Handmade from Black American Walnut, with each sleeve displaying its beautiful grain and colour variation. High levels of precision are required to ensure a snug fit for the enclosed matchbox and the seamless finish is achieved through a double mitring technique. The striker and finger hole are carved out and then hand finished using a chisel.

 

Further precision is applied to the straw marquetry design.The straw marquetry is applied to the top surface.The rye straw is hand-dyed in France and is prepared, flattened, glued and cut in the London workshop. The straw is laid in different directions to create the unique pattern and draw out the distinct reflective nature of the rye straw.

 

Available in four colourways, taking reference from our stair runner collections.

Each matchbox sleeve includes 3 matchbox refills.

Care Instructions

No finish has been applied to the straw marquetry. It loves to be dusted, but please do not polish. Whilst the straw can withstand a slightly damp cloth please do not soak. The straw’s properties mean the colours will not fade, unless of course exposed to prolonged direct sunlight.
